After so long, got the chance to write to blog again. Few things which make me to write blog again, i.e Time which was perfect and on time. This event is being hosted by mozilla L10n Hindi and marathi community every year. This year we have included Gujrati and angika L10n team. It was an invitation based event with active and core contributors. It was based training new contributor with on improving localization quality, Quality of localized product and testing of completed projects. Team building and include more people in the team to increase strength of team and increase productivity.
The event was for two days. 1st and 2nd sep 2018. Complete schedule and details are here.
Day 1 started with introduction and event schedule by Umesh agarwal. Started with Mozilla code of conduct.
1st Session:- Introduction & Aim of the Meet-up

Umesh started with addressing the team with interactive discussion by taking their views, feedback before getting started. –

2nd Session:- How to bring Impact on Mozilla mission through localization and QA By Shahid Ali Farooqui.
He address the participants by encouraging team to introduce their self , which was pendong actually so shahid ji jas covered that part, best start of making interactive session. The another language that I have personally introduced with “Angika” which is quite similar to the Hindi but not completely.

○ Happy to meet the local people and best way when you can speak in local
○ Bring smiles on faces, mainly when you went away from your home or region

3rd Session:- Understand the Individual’s Role – Eg. Manger, Translator, Reviewer & Product Tester(Umesh Agarwal)
Started with Quiz by asking questions to participants, let’s see how many people knows about their team and yes there is no prize for the winners.

4th Session:- Pontoon Tool Overview Tips and Tricks(Dhiraj Kumar Singh & Mahtab Alam)

● Take help from other locals for identifying correct translation
● Review and edit machine translation before suggesting
● Always look for context for improving quality of your translation
● Visit wiki page of your locale
● Don’t translate product name
5th Session:- Firefox for Mobile Quality Check & Terminology Consistency(Ravi Kumbhar)
Problems faced by localizers:
Lack of training
Solution:
Prepare onboarding stylesheet for new localizer
Tips:
● Use style guide i.e. https://mozilla-l10n.github.io/styleguides/mr/
● Focus more on localization than translation. For example bookmark is better than पुस्तचिन्ह
● Use products in your language. It will help to test the product and improve quality.
● Suggest others to use products in regional language, you can have more suggestion for user friendly translation.
● Maintain consistency in selecting words for translation
● Don’t use google translator instead take help from machinery or dictionaries

The session was very well crafted by the team mates from Gujarat local.
Best part was every team member actively participated in the session presented by them. They covered following points:
● What is bugzilla?
● Why Mozilla is using bugzilla for localization?
● How to file a bug with complete process.
● Mozilla l10n blogs updates

● Identified many bugs while testing, found out proper fit for translation and then decide it to maintain consistency.
